Program Overview

Chevening is the global scholarship programme of the UK government, funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office and partner organisations. It pays for a one-year master's degree at any UK university for professionals with leadership potential. Applications for the 2027/28 awards opened in early August 2026 and closed on 6 October 2026 at 11:00 UTC, so this round is now closed. Shortlisted candidates are interviewed in early 2027, and successful candidates must hold an unconditional offer from one of their three chosen courses by 8 July 2027. The next round, for 2028/29 awards, has not been announced. This round opened in early August, so check the Chevening website from August 2027. You can use the time to choose your three courses and line up two referees. This page was last checked against the official website on 7 October 2026. Last checked 8 October 2026 against the official Chevening timeline: applications for 2027/28 are closed. Reading committees work from mid-October 2026 to January 2027. The interview shortlist comes in mid-February 2027, and interviews run in March and April 2027. Shortlisted applicants upload their ID, degree certificate and references at least seven working days before the interview. Results come from mid-June 2027. You must have an unconditional university offer by 8 July 2027 at 17:00 UK time, and studies start in September or October 2027.
