Program Overview

Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), in Education City, Doha, offers tuition waivers and monthly stipends to selected master's and PhD students. There is no separate scholarship form: you are considered for funding when you apply for admission. Selected international PhD students are paid 9,000 QAR a month for up to 45 months, and selected international master's students 7,000 QAR a month for up to 21 months. Funding is competitive. Stipends go to full-time students who work as research or teaching assistants for 10 hours a week, and HBKU says they depend on the funds available. Tuition waivers for HBKU-sponsored students are 100% for PhD programmes, 75% for STEM master's programmes and 60% for other MS and MA programmes; LL.M., MS Economics and certificate programmes have no waiver. Applications for Fall 2027 opened on 1 October 2026, and the deadline for international graduate applicants is 1 February 2027. A later deadline of 2 May 2027 applies only to Qatari and resident applicants. There is a non-refundable application fee of 250 QAR. This page was last checked against the HBKU website on 7 October 2026.
