Program Overview
Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) supports postgraduate students through several schemes rather than one scholarship. The USM Global Fellowship for full-time PhD students of all nationalities has paid tuition, a living allowance of 3,000 ringgit a month and one-off allowances, for up to 36 months, for applicants aged 40 or under with a CGPA of at least 3.50. It is not listed on USM's current financial assistance page, so its status is unclear: ask USM before you count on it.
The current official page lists the Graduate Horizon Scholarship, which gives up to 5,000 ringgit for a research attachment of 1 to 3 months and has a deadline of 15 October 2026. The Graduate Assistant Scheme pays about 900 ringgit a month for master's and 1,100 ringgit a month for PhD students.
