Commonwealth Shared Scholarships 2027/28 in the UK (Master’s at UK Universities)

Commonwealth Shared Scholarships are jointly funded by the UK government and UK universities for candidates from least developed and lower-middle-income Commonwealth countries who could not otherwise afford to study in the UK. They fund one year of taught master's study on selected courses at participating UK universities. Unlike the main Commonwealth awards, you apply directly to the participating university. Universities usually publish their eligible courses and internal deadlines in early 2027; the date below is an estimate based on the previous cycle. Checked on 8 October 2026 against the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission website: applications for 2027/28 are scheduled to open in early November 2026 and close in mid-December 2026. The exact dates and the list of courses will be published in November, so the date shown on this page is an estimate. About 180 scholarships are expected. You must apply for the course at the university and also submit the CSC online application. Pakistan was on the eligible list used by universities for 2026/27; check the 2027/28 country list when it is published. Eligibility, checked 8 October 2026 on the official programme page: the page still shows the closed 2026/27 round, and the 2027/28 dates and country list are not published yet. Pakistan is on the 2026/27 list of eligible countries. In that round, applicants had to be citizens and permanent residents of an eligible country, hold at least an upper second-class degree (or a lower second-class degree plus a relevant postgraduate qualification), not have studied or worked for a year or more in a high-income country, and be unable to afford UK study without the scholarship. Required uploads were a passport or national ID, full transcripts and references from at least two people. The Commission charges no application fee and does not ask for IELTS itself, but a university may.
