Program Overview

The Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies, part of the European University Institute (EUI) in Florence, offers up to 20 one-year Jean Monnet Fellowships each year. They are for scholars who obtained their doctorate more than five years before the start of the fellowship: to apply for 2027–28, your PhD must have been awarded before 1 September 2022. The programme is open to post-docs, tenure-track academics and academics on sabbatical, and candidates of all nationalities are eligible. Scholars with a more recent doctorate are directed by the EUI to its Max Weber Programme. The deadline is 23 October 2026 at 14:00 Central European Summer Time. Register your application early: your two referees can upload their letters only after you register, and references are not accepted after the deadline. The basic grant is 2,850 euros a month, with family allowances where they apply. This page was last checked against the EUI website on 7 October 2026.
