Program Overview

The Global Korea Scholarship for Undergraduate Degrees (GKS-U) funds international students for one year of Korean language training followed by a bachelor's degree in South Korea. For the 2027 intake there are 286 places in total, and Pakistan has 3 in the official guideline table (2 General and 1 Regional University). The embassy track for 2027 is closed: it ran from 15 to 30 September 2026 and closed at 18:00 Korea time. The university track is open from September to November 2026, with a deadline set by each university. Final results are expected on 7 January 2027. The date shown on this page is an estimate for the next embassy round. For 2027 the monthly allowance is all-inclusive: 13,560,000 won a year during the language year and 14,400,000 won a year during the degree, which now includes housing, health insurance and the settlement allowance. NIIED also pays tuition up to 5 million won per semester (the university pays the rest), the language course and an economy flight. This page was last checked against the 2027 NIIED guideline on 7 October 2026.
