Program Overview

Qatar University, the national public university in Doha, offers the International Students Scholarship to applicants from outside Qatar. Scholarship holders are sponsored by the university. The award includes exemption from tuition and textbook fees, a monthly salary, university accommodation and an annual round-trip air ticket. It is a competitive scholarship: new applicants are selected on their high school grades. It is aimed mainly at students starting a first bachelor's degree. You apply through the university's online admission application during the application period announced for international students, so there is no fixed date shown here. The scholarship pays 500 Qatari riyals a month and needs a high school average of at least 95%. The window for Fall 2026 ran from 1 to 25 March 2026, and the Fall 2027 dates are not published yet. This page was last checked against the Qatar University website on 7 October 2026. Checked 8 October 2026 against the official Qatar University scholarship timeline: for Fall 2026, new international students applying from outside Qatar could apply for the International Students Scholarship from 1 March to 25 March 2026, inside the online admission application. The decision date was not announced. The timeline for Fall 2027 is not published yet, so any 2027 date on this page is an estimate based on last year. Benefits and rules, checked 8 October 2026 on the official Scholarships Types page: the International Students Scholarship is for international students applying to bachelor's programmes and is awarded on a competitive basis. It gives exemption from tuition and textbook fees, 500 Qatari riyals a month, shared student housing with transport to campus, a yearly return air ticket and a residence permit under the university's sponsorship. You need a high school average of at least 95%, final admission to the university, and you must meet the entry rules of your college. No extra documents are needed beyond the admission documents; you tick the scholarship section inside the online admission application. Transfer, visiting, non-degree and second-degree applicants are not eligible. To keep the scholarship you need a grade average of 3.0 out of 4.0 and at least 12 credit hours each semester. A separate Talent Scholarship (minimum 80% average, two recommendation letters, a portfolio and an interview) pays 1,000 riyals a month.
