Program Overview

The St. Gallen Symposium runs a Global Ideas Competition for young people. Those who qualify take part in the Symposium in St. Gallen, Switzerland, as Leaders of Tomorrow, with all expenses covered, alongside about 200 young participants and 600 senior leaders. The three best ideas share a prize fund of 20,000 Swiss francs. Your submission has a written part of no more than 1,000 words in four sections: you identify a real problem, support it with evidence, propose a partnership that could solve it and show how it would work. There is also a video explainer. Entries are assessed anonymously. The closing date and eligibility rules are on the official page, so no date is shown here. This page was last checked against the official website on 5 October 2026. Checked on 8 October 2026 against the St. Gallen Symposium website: the competition is now called the Global Ideas Competition. The topic for the 2027 symposium is: What could we solve, if we could agree? The deadline is 1 February 2027 at 11:59 pm in the last time zone (UTC-12), and results come by e-mail by mid-March 2027. The top 100 competitors attend the symposium (27 to 29 April 2027) with travel, board and lodging covered, and three winners share 20,000 Swiss francs.
