Program Overview

Aalto University in Finland gives Aalto University Excellence Scholarships to international master's students who have to pay tuition fees. The scholarship is a tuition fee waiver that covers the full tuition fee for the normal two-year length of the master's degree. It does not cover living costs; Aalto advises having at least 800 euros a month. The scholarship is for students who are liable for tuition fees, which means most citizens of countries outside the EU/EEA and Switzerland. Without the scholarship, tuition is 15,000 euros a year for business, 17,000 euros for technology and multidisciplinary programmes, and 20,000 euros for art and architecture. You apply for the scholarship in the same form as your master's application, by answering yes to the scholarship question. For studies starting in autumn 2027, the application period runs from 7 December 2026 to 5 January 2027. English test results must arrive by 12 January 2027. The application fee for non-EU/EEA and non-Swiss applicants is 100 euros. Scholarships are merit-based and decided together with admission. Each programme uses its own evaluation criteria, and a programme may decide not to award any scholarships. This page was last checked against the Aalto University website on 21 October 2026.
