Program Overview

The CAS-ANSO Scholarship, formerly the ANSO Scholarship for Young Talents, funds international students for master's and PhD study at the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS) and Chinese Academy of Sciences institutes. Each year it supports up to 200 master's and 300 PhD students with a tuition waiver, a monthly stipend, health insurance and an application fee waiver. You need a supervisor at the host university who agrees to take you, so contacting professors early is the most important step. The 2027 call had not been published when this page was last checked on 4 October 2026. The previous round opened on 15 October 2025 and closed on 31 January 2026, so the date below is an estimate. Note, 7 October 2026: the 2027 call is not published yet. The ANSO website still shows the 2026 call and its results. In the 2026 call, applications opened on 15 October 2025 and closed on 31 January 2026 (Beijing time), the stipend was 3,000 CNY a month for master's students and 6,000 or 7,000 CNY a month for PhD students, with a tuition waiver, and master's applicants had to be born on or after 1 January 1996 and PhD applicants on or after 1 January 1991. You must not apply to both USTC and UCAS in the same call.
