Program Overview

China Agricultural University (CAU) in Beijing has opened its 2027 admission for international master's and PhD students. Programmes are taught in English or Chinese. Master's degrees take two or three years and PhDs take three or four years. International students can apply for several scholarships through CAU. The main one is the Chinese Government Scholarship (CSC) High Level Postgraduate Program (Type B), with applications from 1 November 2026 to 28 February 2027. In CAU's 2026 announcement for this scholarship, it covered tuition, a shared double room on campus, a living allowance and medical insurance, but not international travel. CAU has not yet published its 2027 announcement for this scholarship. The other routes are the CSC Silk Road Program (Type B, applications from March to May 2027), CSC Type A programmes (through Chinese embassies), the Beijing Government Scholarship (November 2026 to May 2027) and CAU or other scholarships (November 2026 to June 2027). Self-funded students apply in the same period as CAU scholarships. You must be a non-Chinese citizen with a valid ordinary passport. Master's applicants need a bachelor's degree and must be under 35. PhD applicants need a master's degree and must be under 40. English-taught programmes need TOEFL iBT 90 or IELTS 6.0, and Chinese-taught programmes need HSK 5. You apply through the CAU online application system and pay a non-refundable fee of RMB 400. Without a scholarship, tuition is RMB 26,000 a year for a master's and RMB 30,000 a year for a PhD. Admission notices are issued in July. Last checked on 16 October 2026 against CAU's official 2027 graduate admission announcement and its 2026 Chinese Government Scholarship announcement.
