LPI Summer Intern Program in Planetary Science 2027 in Houston, USA (Paid Research Internship for Undergraduates)

The Lunar and Planetary Institute (LPI) in Houston, Texas, runs a 10-week Summer Intern Program in Planetary Science for undergraduate students. In 2027 the programme runs from 7 June to 13 August. Interns work on research projects with scientists at LPI or at NASA Johnson Space Center, give a midterm presentation and present their results at the LPI Summer Intern Conference in August. The programme is open to undergraduates who have completed at least 50 semester hours of credit and are enrolled in a bachelor's programme. Majors in the physical or natural sciences, engineering, computer science or mathematics are preferred, but all eligible students are considered. US citizens and foreign nationals can apply, except citizens of countries on NASA's Designated Countries List. Interns are housed at University Forest Apartments near the institute and receive a stipend; the stipend amount is not stated on the official pages we checked. Applications opened on 19 October 2026 and close on 14 December 2026. You need the online form with essay questions, a CV, official transcripts sent by your university, and two or three recommendation letters. Applicants whose first language is not English must show English proficiency. Selections are announced in March 2027. This page was last checked against the LPI website on 21 October 2026.
