Program Overview

The NUS Research Scholarship supports full-time research students at the National University of Singapore with a monthly stipend and a tuition fee subsidy. From 1 January 2026, international scholars receive S$3,000 a month for a PhD and S$2,900 a month for a master's by research, and PhD scholars can receive up to S$500 a month more after they pass the qualifying examination. The award lasts up to four years for a PhD and two years for a master's. There is no single university deadline: each faculty sets its own. For example, the School of Computing closes on 15 December for the August intake, and the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine on 31 December. The date shown on this page is the School of Computing date, so check the page of your own faculty. You ask for the scholarship inside the admission application by choosing Scholarship as your source of finance. This page was last checked against NUS websites on 7 October 2026.
