Program Overview

The University of Oxford offers over a thousand graduate scholarships, including the Clarendon Fund, one of the most prestigious. For most awards, including Clarendon, there is no separate scholarship application: every applicant to a degree-bearing graduate course is considered if they apply by the December or January deadline that applies to their course. Oxford does not publish one single date. Each course page states whether its funding deadline is in December or in January, so open your course page and note that date; the date shown on this page is only an estimate. After the deadline, academics in your department assess your application and decide whom to nominate, and the university's divisions review the nominations in February or March. Most Clarendon offers are sent by email by the end of April. Oxford does not contact unsuccessful applicants: if you have not heard by mid-June, assume that you have not been awarded a Clarendon scholarship. This page was last checked against the University of Oxford's Clarendon pages on 7 October 2026.
