Program Overview

The CrossCulture Programme (CCP) Fellowships are run by ifa (Institut fΓΌr Auslandsbeziehungen) in Germany. Each year the programme supports 50 to 60 professionals and volunteers from more than 40 countries to work for two to three months with a host organisation in Germany or in a CCP partner country. Fellows work in one of four areas: policy and society, media and culture, human rights and peace, or sustainable development and climate justice. The key topic for 2027 is democratic resilience. Fellows from abroad receive a stipend of 650 euros a month, plus round-trip airfare, accommodation, a monthly public transport ticket, health insurance and reimbursement of visa fees. The fellowship also includes mentoring, a Transcultural Workshop, professional development and membership of the CCP alumni network. Fellows from Germany receive 1,200 euros a month. The stipend is subject to funding by the German Federal Foreign Office. Spouses, partners and children cannot come along, and ifa does not pay any costs for them. You must be at least 23 when you apply, have at least two years of proven professional or volunteer work in a civil society organisation in your home country, have solid written and spoken English and be able to stay abroad for a long period. Students cannot apply, and neither can people who receive another form of funding, such as a fellowship, in the same year. The 2027 call is open to people from about 40 listed countries, including Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Nepal, Ukraine and Vietnam, and to Russians living in exile abroad. You apply online through the call page for your country of origin, with a CV in English and a letter of recommendation from your home organisation or employer on ifa's template. The application period runs from 20 October to 8 December 2026. Shortlisted applicants are interviewed by a Selection Board, results are sent by email in March or April 2027, and the fellowships take place between May and November 2027. This page was last checked against ifa's official CCP application website on 23 October 2026.
