Program Overview

The Global Investigative Journalism Network (GIJN) offers fellowships for journalists to attend the 15th Global Investigative Journalism Conference (GIJC27), which it co-hosts with the Dutch-Flemish association of investigative journalists, VVOJ. The conference takes place from 19 to 23 October 2027 at de Doelen ICC in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. At the last conference, in Malaysia, nearly 130 fellows from 80 countries and territories took part. The fellowship covers round-trip airfare to Rotterdam, airport transfers, four nights in a hotel, the conference registration fee and set meals: a cocktail reception, breakfasts, lunches on full conference days and the award ceremony dinner. It does not cover a daily allowance, visa fees or travel to and from your home airport. GIJN may also offer partial fellowships. The fellowships are for professional print, online, TV, video, radio, documentary and multimedia journalists, including freelancers, in developing or transitioning countries. Priority goes to journalists from the Global South and historically underrepresented groups. Investigative or data journalism experience is a plus but not required. You need a working knowledge of English. Fellows must later produce a story related to the conference or give a presentation to colleagues. The closing date is 31 January 2027. This page was last checked against the GIJN website on 21 October 2026.
