Program Overview

Schuman traineeships are paid five-month traineeships at the European Parliament for university graduates. Trainees work in Brussels, Luxembourg or Strasbourg, or in the Parliament's Liaison Offices in EU Member States, in areas such as EU internal and external policies, finance, law, multilingualism, administration, infrastructure and logistics, communication and IT. There are two traineeship periods each year. For the traineeship from 1 March to 31 July 2027, applications are open from 1 to 31 October 2026. Applications for the October to February traineeship are made in May. You must be at least 18, hold a full university degree (or, for a limited number of places, an EU vocational qualification), have an eligible criminal record and meet the language requirements. Schuman traineeships are mainly for nationals of EU Member States; the Parliament says a very limited number of traineeships may be offered to nationals of other countries. You apply online with a Europass CV and a motivation letter of no more than one page for each offer, and you can apply for at most three offers. The traineeships are paid. The monthly grant amount is not stated on the official pages we could check. This page was last checked against the European Parliament traineeships website on 21 October 2026.
