Program Overview

DEAI is an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master's in Data Engineering and Artificial Intelligence. It is taught by five universities: Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB) in Belgium, Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) in Spain, TU Wien in Austria, Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1 in France and the University of Padua in Italy. The programme has four semesters of 30 ECTS each, 120 ECTS in total, and is aimed at students with a bachelor's in computer science. The Erasmus Mundus grant application period for the 2027–2029 cohort opened on 20 October 2026 and closes on 11 January 2027. Reference letters are due by 18 January 2027. A second period for self-funded applicants and partial grants opens on 1 March 2027, with deadlines of 15 May 2027 for non-EU applicants and 30 May 2027 for EU applicants. A full DEAI scholarship covers tuition fees and insurance and pays 1,400 euros a month for up to 24 months. A partial scholarship covers the participation costs only, with no monthly allowance. Self-funded students pay 4,500 euros a year (programme country students) or 9,000 euros a year (partner country students). You need a bachelor's degree worth 180 ECTS from a recognised university, ideally with a major in computer science, and English at level B2, for example IELTS Academic 5.5. Final-year students can apply before they receive their diploma. Applications are scored on your bachelor's subject, grades, other studies, work experience, cover letter and reference letters. This page was last checked against the DEAI website on 20 October 2026.
