Program Overview

Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) offers the Scholarship for Excellence to talented international students who start a master's degree in September 2027. The scholarship is linked to microchip and related technology programmes and is funded by the Dutch national Beethoven Program. The scholarship pays €7,500 a year for two years, €15,000 in total, in monthly payments. TU/e says it is not a full scholarship and does not cover the total cost of study, so you must pay a large part of your tuition and living costs yourself. About 35 scholarships are awarded: 20 for EEA students and 15 for non-EEA students. TU/e says about 2% of applicants receive one. Twelve master's programmes and tracks are eligible, including Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, Embedded Systems, Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science and Engineering (selected tracks), Sustainable Energy Technology and Systems and Control. You need a non-Dutch secondary school diploma or bachelor's degree, a GPA of at least 7.5 out of 10 on your latest transcript, and no earlier higher education in the Netherlands (exchange is allowed). Non-EEA students must meet the visa rules, including proof of enough money. To apply, submit your complete master's application by 1 January 2027, say that you want to be considered for the scholarship, and add a short motivation letter. Winners are confirmed by the end of March 2027. To keep the second-year payment you must earn at least 45 ECTS in your first year. Last checked on 15 October 2026 against the official TU/e Scholarship for Excellence page.
