Program Overview

The University of Twente Scholarship (UTS) is a merit award from the University of Twente in Enschede, the Netherlands, for excellent students from outside the EU/EEA who will start a Master's programme in September 2027. It is worth between 3,000 and 22,000 euros for one year, and students on a two-year Master's can receive the same amount again in their second year if they meet the progress requirements. The application form for the 2027/2028 round opened on 15 October 2026. The University of Twente says the UTS is a compensation for study-related costs and not a full scholarship. The money is paid to you and you decide how to spend it; no costs such as tuition fees are paid on your behalf. For comparison, the 2027/2028 institutional tuition fee for a full-time Master's is 18,720 euros a year for lower-rate programmes and 22,320 euros a year for higher-rate programmes, and the university estimates living costs at about 1,311 euros a month. You must be sure you can pay the remaining costs before you apply. The award is open to non-EU/EEA students who have been (provisionally) admitted to one of the qualifying UT Master's programmes, such as Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Business Administration, Psychology or Sustainable Energy Technology. You must belong to the best 5 to 10 percent of your graduating class, meet the English requirement of Academic IELTS 6.5 (or TOEFL iBT 90) with at least 6.0 for speaking (TOEFL 20), and not be eligible for a Dutch study loan. Dutch students, current UT students, UT graduates and applicants to ITC Master's or pre-Master's programmes cannot apply. You first apply for your Master's programme through Studielink and complete the application in Osiris. Once you have a (conditional) admission letter and a student number, you fill in the UTS application form. The form closes on 1 April 2027 at 16:00 CET, results are announced in the first week of May 2027, and you can only receive one UT scholarship. UTS recipients from Least Developed and Other Low Income Countries can also be considered for the Kipaji Scholarship of up to 12,000 euros by mentioning it in their UTS motivation.
