Program Overview

The NL Scholarship, formerly called the Holland Scholarship, is for students from outside the European Economic Area who want to do a full-time bachelor's or master's programme in the Netherlands. It is financed by the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science and by Dutch research universities and universities of applied sciences. The scholarship is 5,000 euros, paid in the first year of your studies. It is not a full-tuition scholarship. You apply through the Dutch institution you want to attend, and each institution sets its own requirements and deadline. Deadlines have usually been 1 February or 1 May, depending on the institution; the date shown here is an estimate, so check your institution's website. This page was last checked against the Study in NL website on 7 October 2026.
