Program Overview

The US–Pakistan Knowledge Corridor is a programme of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan that funds Pakistani students to do PhDs at universities in the United States. The programme aims to award 1,000 PhD scholarships in total. It is only for Pakistani and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) nationals. HEC has announced scholarships for 2027 PhD admissions at US universities ranked in the top 100 of the QS World University Rankings. There are two categories: Category I is for admission to a US university ranked in the top 50, and Category II is for a US university ranked 51 to 100. There are two closing dates: 30 October 2026 for the Spring/Summer 2027 intake and 30 March 2027 for the Fall 2027 intake. You need a valid GRE General score of at least 300, or a HAT score of at least 60%. You apply online through the HEC Scholarship Portal. HEC's programme page does not list the 2027 stipend, tuition or insurance amounts, or the full eligibility rules. Read the HEC advertisement on the HEC Scholarship Portal before you apply, because it has the detailed criteria. Last checked on 16 October 2026 against HEC's official US–Pakistan Knowledge Corridor page and the 2027 notice published by UET Lahore.
