Program Overview

The Radboud Scholarship (Radboud Scholarship Programme) is a very selective, partial scholarship from Radboud University in Nijmegen, the Netherlands. It is for talented, highly motivated non-EU/EEA students with outstanding study results who want to take a complete English-taught Master's programme starting on 1 September 2027. It reduces your tuition fee to €2,771 (the university says this amount is still to be confirmed) instead of the full fee, which can be around €19,000 depending on your programme. The scholarship also pays for your visa, residence permit, and health and liability insurance for your stay in the Netherlands (Aon Student Insurance). It does not cover the costs of living and studying in the Netherlands, so you need your own funds for those. For 2027/2028 there are at most 26 scholarships: Faculty of Arts (2), Faculty of Law (2), Nijmegen School of Management (5), Faculty of Philosophy, Theology and Religious Studies (1), Faculty of Science (9) and Faculty of Social Sciences (7). All English-taught Master's programmes are eligible except Erasmus Mundus and joint-degree programmes. You need a non-EU/EEA passport, must not qualify for the lower EU/EEA fee for other reasons, and your Bachelor's degree must come from outside the Netherlands, with no earlier Dutch degree or education (exchange within a foreign Bachelor's excepted). You must also meet your programme's English requirement, be fully admitted and enrol full-time. On a two-year Master's, you keep the scholarship in year two only if you pass all first-year courses. Master's applications for the September 2027 intake opened on 1 October 2026. Apply in Studielink, then tick the Radboud Scholarship option in OSIRIS Application and upload two reference letters and a CV. Submit by 31 January 2027, 23:59 CET, and make your application complete by 14 February 2027, 23:59 CET. Decisions come before mid-April 2027. The scholarship can be combined with the NL Scholarship (€5,000 for the first year). Last checked on 19 October 2026 against the Radboud University Radboud Scholarship Programme page, its Master's deadlines and application procedure pages, the NL Scholarship page and the reference letter guidelines.

How Applications Are Evaluated

Each scholarship provider uses its own selection criteria. Applicants should review the official scholarship guidelines for the specific criteria used to evaluate applications.

Selection information published by the provider

  • Each faculty's selection committee considers every applicant individually
  • Academic excellence: grades, test scores or publications, relevance of your previous degree and the ranking of your previous university
  • Ambition: quality and relevance of your motivation letter, promise shown by past achievements, and life experience or extracurricular activities
  • References: quality of the two reference letters
  • Faculties may use other criteria too; some programmes hold interviews
  • Admission to the Master's does not mean selection for the scholarship
